The Marigold Café starts 7th Sept at HRI (10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.) and is going to be held on the first Friday of each month, alternating between the hospitals.
This is part of the Trust’s End of Life Care Strategy and is there to support relatives of those who have died. Everybody collecting the Medical Certificate of Death from the hospitals will be a given a flyer inviting them to the café for support. The café is however open to all affected by grief.
In HRI, the café is a joint venture with Age Concern and will be run in Libby and Bertie’s Lounge, where information and advice will also be available on practical help. As well as Age Concern staff and volunteers, the cafe will be staffed by chaplains (including Simon, our bereavement expert) and End of Life Companions (who have received training in this field).
The café, when at CRH, will be based in the Hope Centre (Chapel) on the first floor above Costa Coffee, and again will be staffed by chaplains and Companions. Gillian Sykes, Strategy Facilitator, will attend at both venues to offer advice.
