CRH – Tuesday 21st August 12.30 – 4 pm.

Our Mortuary Assistants Danielle Woodall and Fran Allen won our Star Award back in 2016 for all the care and pride they take in their job. Danielle explains more about her role.

" I approach my role as any other staff member would when looking after a patient. I am professional, compassionate and caring. I treat all patients and their relatives with respect and dignity at all times.

"I deal with grief in a professional manner, and although I deal with distressing situations and scenarios, the service I provide to family members gives them the opportunity to grieve for their loved ones and hopefully give them some comfort. This can be distressing to witness. People think that the children are the most upsetting but seeing an elderly gentleman visiting his wife of fifty plus years can be heart-breaking.

"Viewings can only be done within the opening times and the family must make an appointment so we can prepare and make the experience as comfortable, peaceful and satisfying as possible. I meet the family and introduce myself, whilst walking to viewing room I explain what is going to happen and how it will happen in the viewing room. I provide the family with guidance and support with what to do next. I always ask the relatives questions about their loved one. I like to know about the person and it gives the family the opportunity to talk about them and remember happier times."
