Friends of The Health Informatics' information analyst Mike Lucraft are fundraising to get him out and about again with an off-road wheelchair.

Mike has had spinal cord damage for many years and struggles with his mobility. In 2015 he had an operation which saved his life, but now he can't walk very far, so he uses a wheelchair to get around.

His condition is only going to worsen as time goes on, so he's going to be reliant on his wheelchair for the rest of his life. Although his current chair is mainly designed for indoor use, he struggles on outside journeys.

In his heyday Mike used to go on 40 mile hikes regularly, but now he struggles to even get his wheelchair up kerbs.

So he's fundraising for a chair designed for off the road but these are expensive at more than £9,750

Colleagues can either join a sponsored walk or sponsor someone who is walking.
