The birthday cake may have been eaten, but we still have loads to celebrate in this our 70th year of the NHS. So next up for our Q&A session is staff nurse from ward 7c (Stroke unit) at CRH  - Gary Miles.

How long have you worked in the NHS and what is your role or your thing about working here?

I have worked within the NHS for 3 years. In 2015 I joined the Trust's flexible workforce department as a HCA. In 2017, my role changed to staff nurse after graduating from the University of Huddersfield with a degree in Adult Nursing. I am very proud to work for the NHS. My favourite part is working within teams to deliver safe, evidence based and patient focused care.

What makes the NHS special to you?

The dedicated and professional teams who deliver compassionate care to patients, relatives and communities. A massive thank you to Mr Aneurin Bevan who founded the NHS on the 5th July 1948!

What birthday present would give it?

To celebrate the fantastic successes over the 70 years I would create a certificate for each member of staff to say "Thank you for all your dedication, passion and hard work"
