The Government set up a scheme known as Tax Free Childcare (TFC) last year.  At the same time, they gave a deadline for people to join the current Employer Supported Childcare (ESC) known commonly as the Childcare Voucher Scheme.  This initial deadline has now been extended through to October 2018, which means you need to apply by Monday 27th August if you want to join ESC.

Childcare Voucher Schemes allow employees to pay for registered childcare through their wage by the means of salary sacrifice, saving on tax and national insurance contributions. Our Workforce Benefits Service are currently promoting the impending deadline to ensure as many staff can take advantage of Childcare Vouchers as possible.

The last chance for new applicants to join will be from the September pay.  This means applications need to be completed by the 27th August.

One of the conditions of joining ESC is that you must already have a child and have some registered childcare in place even if you are not already using this.  You can’t use ESC and TFC at the same time.  Once you have registered for TFC you cannot go back to ESC.
