Following my previous communication regarding the now ratified Agenda for Change pay award that will be paid in your July salary. There are further details of the award that I need to bring to your attention full details of which can be found here. http://www.nhsemployers.org/your-workforce/2018-contract-refresh/pay-journey-tool
As part of the pay deal, new unsocial hours rates have been implemented for bands 1-3 to reflect the increase to basic salary levels and these are effective from 1st July (these are not backdated to April):
Pay band | All time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am | All time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight) |
1 | Time plus 49% | Timeplus 97% |
2 | Time plus 43% | Time plus 85% |
3 | Time plus 36% | Time plus 72% |
Also some employees will progress into a higher pension tier threshold as a result of the salary increases. For reference, the pay thresholds are outlined below so you can identify whether you will have an increased contribution rate towards your pension. These contributions are backdated to 1st April 2018 and will therefore impact on the pay arrears for those who move up a tier.
Tier | Full Time Pensionable Pay | Contribution Rate (before tax relief) |
1 | Up to £15,431.99 | 5% |
2 | £15,432.00 to £21,477.99 | 5.6% |
3 | £21,478.00 to £26,823.99 | 7.1% |
4 | £26,824.00 to £47,845.99 | 9.3% |
5 | £47,846.00 to £70,630.99 | 12.5% |
6 | £70,631.00 to £111,376.99 | 13.5% |
Whilst I understand that you will be keen to know how these new salary scales impact you personally, unfortunately we cannot provide individual projections, however you can refer to the following pay calculator for further information https://www.nhspay.org/pay-calculator
There are wider changes to the terms and conditions, some of these details of which are still be developed. We await the guidance being developed by the national NHS Staff Council to ensure we manage the transition consistently across the NHS.
