The 20th Annual conference of the British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) was held at the Cedar Court hotel in Huddersfield at the end of June.

Five years ago Huddersfield hosted the same event and it was a big success. And in what is a first for the society, the same town held the meeting again for the second time and it was a first for the President of BIOS to hold the meeting in his own home town.

The meeting was organised by our Orthopaedic surgeons of Indian origin. There were 125 delegates and the two day conference was a mixture of conference, guest lectures, free papers and posters. The attendees came from all over the UK and India. The President elects of the the British and Indian Orthopaedic associations and the Secretary of the British orthopaedic association attended the meeting and delivered talks on extremely interesting topics.

We were also pleased to have two of our surgeons from CHFT who were invited to give talks in the meeting.

The Presidential guest lecturer Squadron Leader Dheeraj Bhasin from Huddersfield, talking on Leadership and Discipline that we can learn from the RAF. This was extremely well received and had a lot of commendation.

The meeting finished with a session on financial planning which is important to all of us.

The conference dinner included Huddersfield's finest Indian cuisine along with Bollywood music and dance to complete the week.
