His ticket was first out of the hat in a fundraiser organised by healthcare assistant Sallie Wood-Fowler to raise funds for the charity MIND. She raised over £250 on the day with massive support from the public and staff donations to the huge amount of prizes on offer.
Sallie (pictured second left in the top left group pic) was joined by her father and daughter, who helped run the stall. There was also plenty of help from Sallie and other work colleagues throughout the day. It was really well attended after a lot of hard work by Sallie with the organisation of the day. This was also an event that she had put as a goal in her appraisal!
Sister Maggie Shepley got in touch to tell us about Sallie's amazing efforts. She also sent this photo of Dr S Ting – Respiratory consultant - who despite never having entered a Tombola before desperately wanted to win the Kermit toy. Unbelievably, his first ticket out was the winning ticket for Kermit and you can see the pleasure in his face.
Maggie said "I would like to personally thank Sallie for all her hard work with this project and the personal time and dedication she has put into it".

Our League of Friends at Calderdale (see pic bottom right) have again come up trumps, kindly donating funds to buy equipment for a children's corner in the neonatal unit.
They also dug deep to fund some relaxing lighted wall panels help relax patients and reduce the effects of claustrophobia, patient stress & restlessness.
Sister Debbie Martin-Lawson got in touch with the divisional support team as they were finding that older children were becoming easily bored.
So the League of Friends were approached, and funding for some comfortable pouffes, a storage unit for toys and a variety of sensory toys for a children’s corner was agreed which has created an interactive and interesting play corner, to ensure that older children/siblings to babies on the unit can be entertained.
The new relaxing lights that have been installed are designed to flood light into windowless rooms and were from Relax & View® Image Collection. Their lighting is widely used in Therapy Treatment Rooms, X-Ray Departments & Patient Waiting Areas. The transparent images provide a pleasant distraction for patients, reducing the effects of claustrophobia, patient stress and restlessness.
Debbie - pictured in the pink cardigan with the League of Friends team, said: "Everything we've put in place looks great, and we couldn't have achieved it without the kind support of the League of Friends. In all, they contributed around £3600 to install the equipment, which is amazing for both our parents and their children".

Staff nurse Deborah Farmer and healthcare assistant Natalie Gill recently raised more than £700 in a raffle for a charity close to their wards' hearts - 4Louis. (See pic bottom left)
And earlier this month the charity's founders - who complete an annual walk (Walk4Louis), popped in to say hello and learn more about the great stuff happening on the ward.
Deborah, pictured left, said: "4Louis is a charity that provides equipment to local hospitals for couples who have experienced miscarriages, still births, neonatal deaths and paediatric loss. They have very kindly donated items such cold cots, memory boxes and photography equipment to both gynaecology and maternity, so the fund raising efforts were just to say a huge thank you".
This year they walked 200 miles from Manchester to Sunderland and paid us a visit on 7th June. They came along to get an understanding of the work that 4Louis does for the ward and what their work means to bereaved parents.
