In August the Trust will go-live with an electronic blood tracking system called BloodTrack® .
This will revolutionise the blood transfusion service and improve patient safety, helping to ensure that each link in the blood supply chain is optimised to eliminate waste, reduce blood bank workload and primarily provide better patient care.
Work has already started and some of the new devices can be seen throughout the Trust. Patient wristbands have been updated and now contain a 2D bar code.
New compatibility labels for blood components will be introduced soon.

What you now need to do to access training
Prior to going live with the new system all staff who will use it must be trained and have their competency assessed in BloodTrack for each part of the transfusion process they are involved in.
The training window for staff involved in using the system will be open from Monday 2nd July 2018 until 10th August 2018. For most users training will last for a duration of 2hours. A booking system is now available and can be used by clicking the following link:
http://intranet.cht.nhs.uk/training/it-systems-training/bloodtrack/ (please read the supporting information in the attached document to confirm how you do this)
Unauthorised (untrained, non-competent) users will not be able to access the system as bar code technology will be used throughout the new process and will restrict access.
