Landlord Terry Rose, said: “ This is the Wireworks saying thank-you to the NHS. Obviously many of our customers work for the NHS and myself, my family and our staff have all been cared for by the NHS at some point. So this is the pub’s way of giving back. It’s going to be a great day - not just on Acre Street - but for the whole nation.”

Here's Sophie Holroyd pictured with the ceremonial shovel used by the then Health Secretary Frank Dobson to perform the sod-cutting ceremony at the start of the building of Calderdale Royal Hospital.
Here she sends her best wishes to the NHS in its 70th year.
How long have you worked in the NHS and why did you join it?
I have worked for the NHS since I was 18. I joined Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust as an apprentice in 2014 in the Estates Department and was lucky enough to secure a permanent job nine months in and I haven’t looked back since!
I joined CHFT in October 2017 wanting to progress my career further in Estates and Facilities and my current role seemed the perfect opportunity. My mum is from a Nursing background and has worked for the NHS her whole working life so I knew the NHS would be a good place to work.
What makes the NHS special to you?
The NHS is special because it provides accessible and compassionate healthcare to all people regardless of individual circumstances.
What would you buy it for its 70th birthday
More staff and resources to care for patients.
