Amber Fox pictured with her Mum - but which one is which, we say, - has this wording as a tattoo in tribute to a special friendship, and is the latest in our Hello My Name Is... series.
On Monday she took up the role of Corporate Governance Manager.
Hello My Name Is....Amber Fox.
I was born in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on 4 October 1993 and grew up in Slawit (or Slaithwaite). After 1.5 years at Colne Valley High School, I immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada with my mum and brother. I was there for seven years and I never picked up the Canadian accent, although, you’d think my brother was Canadian!
Whilst in Canada, I received a 2 Year Medical Administration Diploma at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. They never quite got my accent, on an introduction once I said my name and they said “I’m a Fox?”…
We decided to move back to the UK end of June 2013 and I joined the Trust in September 2013.
It is great to be back doing what I love which is spending time with family and enjoying the great scenery we have in the UK. I also love going to concerts, I’ve seen Jessie J (x3), Emeli Sande, Il Divo, Miley Cyrus, Will Young, Olly Murs (x2) and the MOBO awards since coming back!
What is your position?
Corporate Governance Manager from 11.06.2018
Summarise your career background
I always wanted to work for CHFT which was my goal upon returning back to England. I joined the Trust on a Bank Contract and worked in Medical Records for 2 months before I started as a Personal Assistant for the FSS Division in November 2013. An exciting opportunity came up and I joined the Modernisation Programme as a Personal Assistant working for Mandy Griffin and Jackie Murphy in October 2015. During this time I received my PRINCE2 Certificates in Project Management. I was appointed as a Junior Project Manager in October 2016 where I joined the PMO team in The Health Informatics Service. During my time as a Junior Project Manager, I supported the EPR Programme at both CHFT and BTHFT and technical projects for THIS. It was a very exciting time! I can’t thank everyone along the way enough for all of their support and encouragement!
What is the highlight of your career so far?
Meeting such wonderful people since joining the Trust and developing close relationships
Sum up your role in three words
Organised, Exciting, Challenging
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I never wanted to grow up! (Neverland)
Who is your hero/heroine and why?
That’s got to be Jackie Murphy, Director of Nursing for CHFT. It’s hard to put into words her amazing character, her leadership skills and the outstanding qualities she possesses. She is very hardworking and dedicated to the Trust, I totally look up to her – she’s an inspiration and a great example!
When you are not at work how do you relax?
I love to read, spending time with my cat (I will be a crazy cat lady one day), going to the cinema (love musicals), sightseeing and going out for a meal, although it can be difficult as I have coeliac and everything has to be 100% gluten free. My favourite restaurant is TGI Friday’s!
What is your favourite place?
Tenby, Wales…where my other half Lee proposed to me on Tenby beach on 3 July 2017! An amazing, beautiful place, he picked a very romantic time to surprise me!
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I have a tattoo of a quote that me and my best friend got in Canada before I moved back to England, as a reminder of our friendship and to always have that connection.
“Our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we’ve touched…”
The NHS is 70 on the 5th July. How does that make you feel?
t makes me feel very young! I’m extremely grateful for the NHS and looking forward to my life-long career as a part of it.
