One of our community midwives, Leigh Chambers, will be reaching new heights in August when she does a charity skydive to raise funds for Saying Goodbye up in the Lakes in Grange-over-Sands.
Leigh, said: "As a community midwife I unfortunately too often come across women and families who have suffered from a loss whether it be a miscarriage, stillbirth or in the neonatal period. So I would like to raise awareness and fundraise for the charity to make a difference.
"Approximately 258,000 babies are lost each year in the UK . The aim is that 258 people will jump in 2018, each represtenting 1,000 babies.
"For me to be able to complete my jump, I need to raise my minimum target of £600. If I don’t raise this, I can’t undertake the jump. This is why every donation is so important to me. If I am unable to raise the sum, any sponsorship paid will be classed as a donation.
"Every baby is precious!"
She added: "I am not keen on heights and especially jumping from them but I am determined to complete this! I am beginning to get nervous but the charity is fabulous and I want to support these women and families."
