Gill Longbottom and Neil Staniforth married at Holmfirth Church with a reception and evening do in a teepee at The Woodman Inn. They’re both now back at work and Gill is a Clinical Information Manager and Neil is a General Manager both in The Health Informatics Service. They honeymooned in Mexico and have already booked another trip to Venice in June.
How did you meet? We actually went to school together, although never spoke until Neil had to do a IT job for Gill.
Was it love at first sight? Most definitely not… Gill thought Neil was a typical IT person and overly confident! It was only when she needed him to do a password reset they started to speak!
Where did he propose and was it romantic? It was lovely and romantic, we went to Lisbon for a few days and went to the castle, after quite a lot of wandering round, Neil found a quiet little spot in the gardens with nobody around and got down on one knee…
Describe your wedding dress? It was an Eliza Jane Howell dress that I tried on in 3 different places before deciding it was the one! It was fairly fitted and had some changes made but covered in sequins and beading! Anything with sequins always goes down well with me!
Tell us about the role of your dog on the day. Our cockerpoo Collins is only a puppy so still very excited but she came to meet us outside church with her own floral collar!
Any comedy moments? There were quite a few funny bits in the speeches but the best bit was when catering staff dropped the top two tiers of the cake on the floor! Overall on the day though there was a lot of laughing and a lot of confetti canons!
Did you cry? Did he? Ha, absolutely not! Neil definitely isn’t a teary person, we spent most of the time laughing, especially during the church ceremony!
How’s married life so far? Married life is so far so good, although was definitely better with an all inclusive bar on honeymoon! J
Gill is definitely missing the wedding planning after designing and creating everything! Neil on the other hand is not missing being given tasks of making the decorations and wooden crates!!
