Our Matron for Outpatients, Jo Machon enjoyed a recent charity skydive far more than she imagined she would – and it also ended up with her being part of a winning fundraising team after contributing to an amazing £24k raised.
Jo, a member of a national group called Ladies Circle, said: “I really thought I’d be scared, but it was just an amazing experience and I kept my eyes open the whole way down.
“I was doing a tandem skydive so I was literally stuck to him – there wasn’t one bit of air between us and I felt really safe to enjoy it.
“I don’t really remember that much before jumping out – just that we sort of edged closer to the door, before suddenly we were in freefall – it was absolutely amazing”.
The skydive over Bridlington finally took place after being rearranged a whopping nine times over two years.
Jo was asked by her friend and then National President to sit on the committee of the Ladies Circle (part of the Round Table family) and in 2016/17 their chosen charity was Epilepsy Action.
Thanks to a huge campaign of fundraising and awareness activities the final amount of over £24,000 also meant they scooped a national award hosted by the group for their members – picking up Fundraising Team of the Year in Leeds last Tuesday.
