Patient advocate Jo Kitchen got in touch to tell CHFT Weekly about a great piece of fundraising by the Huddersfield Trust School. The children's diabetes team have been working closely with the school by running an education session.

Jo said: "I have been working in partnership with Huddersfield Trust School as we have some Children with Type 1 diabetes who attend the school and we visit frequently.

"Amanda Holt approached us and asked if we'd do an education session with her year group around Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 diabetes.

"At the session we discussed the differences between the two and showed a short video of what it is like for someone living with Type 1 diabetes attending High School.

"During the session we also discussed various career pathways into the NHS.

"The students then had to design a poster looking at Type 1 and Type 2 which will hopefully be developed further and placed in local GP practices to raise awareness.

"Huddersfield Trust School also did a dress down day for the Children’s Diabetes Team and raised £519. The two winners of the entries for the posters were Asma Moazzam and Saviaji Taur.

"We would like to thank Huddersfield Trust School and the Students for their involvement with the team and we really appreciate the funds raised. The money will go towards some Activity Days for the Children with Type 1 Diabetes."
