Our lovely team on Ward 7 at HRI  got all dressed up Wild West style for the London Moonwalk last Saturday raising money for Breast Cancer Research.

Bernie Beith,  Nicola Aitchison, Jayne Alderman , Wendy Teague , Claire Mannion and Audrey Lister  joined more than 15,000 men and women completing the half marathon or full marathon walk and raised a staggering amount of roe than £1,747 thansk to sponsorship from patients, colleagues, friends and family.

Healthcare assistant Ann Marsh and Wendy Teague helped in the costume department  converting the white bras with fringing and Claire ripped up some jeans to add a denim for extra  cowboyauthenticity.

The team had been in training but it the conditions  that night were very muddy making the going very tough.

Bernie,  in mud up to her knees, said:" It was a great experience however it was exhausting and it has reminded me that I am getting old. Not so much the younsger ones. It wasn't so much the journey as it being an all-nighter event!"

The team completed the half marathon around Clapham Common starting at 11.30 pm. They finished at 4.30 pm then stayed up for their train back after a quick brekkie at a Premier Inn.

Next year they are planning to team up agani for a Macmillan Mighty Hike (during the daytime).
