Janette Cockroft has been with our Trust for 33 years and loves the development opportunities she has had here. Here she shares her best wishes for the NHS in its 70th year.
How long have you worked here/career path
I have worked for the organisation since 1985, firstly as an Enrolled nurse then undertook the first conversion course and successfully achieved registered nurse status progressing toward Senior sister in 2002.
In 2008 became a matron in medicine. I have remained in this Trust ever since because there is room to progress and develop and values its staff.
What makes the NHS special to you?
The NHS is reliable and “always there” to care for young and old alike. We hear lots of negative press around the NHS. It is always a political hot potato but could we do without it? We should be proud to have such a great service.
What present would you buy the NHS and why?
A big pat on the back for all it has achieved over the last 70 years with a massive thank you to all staff who remain enthused and committed to provide our top class healthcare service –what an inspiration for the rest of the world.
