Interserve’s Andrew Jackson is celebrating his return to work after over-coming two strokes with a charity cycle ride in HRI entrance for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Andy, who has been at the Trust for 12 years, was unaware he had had his first stroke until he arrived at work and a colleague told him he didn’t look well. An MRI scan confirmed it.

Three weeks later he suffered a second and HRI teamed up with his home hospital of Rotherham to share records and treat him.

Now he’s back as liaison manager, has transformed his lifestyle and has shed four two stones in seven months. No cause was ever determined but he is on warfarin.

He said: “The healthcare I received was amazing. Brilliant -  both at HRI and at CRH and when Rotherham became involved it was brilliant again as they had to work together.

“I am nearly back to normal and enjoying my life all over again. Air Ambulance is a lifesaver so I was obviously keen to take part.”

Graham Stacey – boss of Ceiling 2 – which provides partition walls for our refurbishments asked him take part in a fund-raiser and they teamed up together with Graham’s daughter Nicola to cycle all day. They raised  £290 for the Air Ambulance.

Graham, 54, is also a keen support of the Huddersfield Town FC’s Pedal 4 Pounds every year which raises for the Air Ambulance.

***Andrew has made big changes to his lifestyle now. He regularly used to walk so exercise continues.

Food – bran flakes for breakfast, olives and hummus for lunch salad and chicken for tea.

Drink – one glass in the week and two on Fridays.
