Our CEO Owen Williams is celebrating six years with us this very month.

He  joined us in May 2012 from  Calderdale Council and, as well as being our CEO, has made his mark over the years amongst colleagues as our secret Star Award presenter, as a loyalty card holder in both our dining rooms and as a 5-a-side footie regular - if non-medal winner!.

There's just two months to go now until July 5 when the NHS celebrates 70 years since its creation on July 5 1948.

Here 's Owen thoughts in this historic year.

How long have you worked in the NHS and what attracted you to it?

I’ve been working in the NHS for six years and I was attracted to it because it gave me an opportunity to be closer (day to day) to the people we serve and the many great people who play their part in providing Compassionate Care.

What makes it special to you?

No other job on earth provides you with the start-to-end-of-life experience that being in the NHS provides every  single day – It's very humbling.

What birthday present would you give it for its 70th? A neatly wrapped present of love and respect.
