As an NHS Foundation Trust we are accountable to the population we serve. This means that we want to involve and talk to local people, patients, carers, partner organisations and our colleagues.
Currently when you join us as a colleague, you automatically become a member of the staff “constituency” (unless you choose to opt-out). The staff constituency is divided into five groups: doctors and dentists; Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), Health Care Scientists and Pharmacists; management, administration and clerical staff; ancillary staff; and nurses/midwives.
The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) effective from 25 May means that in future we will need to ask staff members on appointment to give their explicit consent to becoming a member.
We also need to revisit consent for existing colleagues, so if you wish to opt-out of being a member, please e-mail membership@cht.nhs.uk or call the Membership Office on x7342 at HRI. If you’re unsure, please e-mail or call the Membership Office for more information, or see the Membership page on the intranet.
If you do decide to opt-out, this will not affect your employment with the Trust in any way.
