What is the role called? ‘Clinical Academic Nurse’

Nurses at the beginning of their career have so many exciting employment opportunities open to them, but are not always aware of how many there are! We are leading the way at Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust, in partnership with the University of Huddersfield, with the development of this new and innovative ‘Clinical Academic Nurse’ post.

What does the job entail?

The post holder will work three days a week at CHT in a clinical setting combined with two days a week at the University of Huddersfield (with Professor Astin). This post enables Band 5 nurses an opportunity to continue to develop expert clinical skills and develop new skills in research and education. A key goal of the post is to support the implementation of evidence based clinical practice to improve patient care. The role offers a unique blend of mentorship and career development with a split role that combines the clinical and academic skills needed to implement evidence based practice. 

How does it fit with other teams?

The post holder will work closely with ward manager (TBC) and Professor Astin
