Our outstanding stroke care teams are well-used at receiving thank-yous. Here's an emotional and truly magnificnet one  from  the Klimko family..... and their cat Foo Foo.

We're reproduced it in full right through to their sign off which says: ."You will always be in our hearts and we will always remember you and the care you gave to our treasured father."

-----------------------------------------------------

To the doctors, ward managers, ward clerks, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, healthcare assistants, domestics and the cleaners on the stroke unit.

Having seen the heart, the effort, the motivation, the strength and the courage our father, Joe, put into every physiotherapy session, I realised that as a father he is our hero.

As Joe is our hero, you are our angels.

For the past seven weeks, the care you have given Joe, with such warmth, kindness and emotion, has touched all our hearts.

We can say ‘thank you’ until we are blue in the face, but this is just a word, a word that can never truly express just how grateful we are.

Our gratitude stems from the Doctors, Ward Managers ward clerks, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, healthcare assistants, domestics and the cleaners who Joe and we have had the pleasure of meeting. You all, have played a massive part in Joe’s recovery. You have made him smile, you had held him when he was agitated and crying. You have kept him clean, helped feed him, made him cups of tea and given him his medications. You have also answered our phone calls when we rang the ward at 3am!

We have been through such a long journey, with highs and lows. But by working together, we have come so far and achieved so much. When we arrived at the hospital we had so many uncertainties after we found out he had a stroke. We were scared, we cried a lot, we didn’t want to lose him. We remember him refusing to eat at first, and often refusing his medications. But despite these tough times we never lost hope. And with your help, support and care, step by step, Joe improved. For the times we thought we may lose him, you saved him.

We have also built bonds with other patients and their families, whom we will never forget. We hope and pray that all of our patients, recover as we as possible, as these are all lovely people who touched our hearts.

As Joe’s family, I know sometimes we have nagged you. We apologies for any inconvenience we have caused anyone, but we just care and have so much love for our father.

We will really miss you all, as you have given so much, more than you will ever imagine.

I hope we can keep in touch and let you know how Joe is doing.

If you are ever having a bad day, please remember Joe, and how you helped him, how you made him smile, and say “Yesss”, “Come on” and “nothing”. Hopefully this will put a smile back on your face too.

I hope we can help contribute to the Stroke Unit in the future, maybe through listening and talking to others who have loved ones who have suffered a stroke in the future if possible, to help other patients who experience this heart-breaking condition.

Keep up your amazing work. And keep your wonderful personalities.

You have helped Joe, and will help many others through some challenging times.

You will always be in our hearts and we will always remember you and the care you gave to our treasured father.

Thank you all

Love and best wishes from,

Joe, Matty, Giuseppe and Foo Foo(Joe’s treasured cat)
