EN-Plugs are designed and licensed to keep stomas (openings in the body) from closing when a gastrostomy device has fallen out.
It is important that EN-Plugs are used for this rather than a urinary catheter or a NG tube, as these are unlicensed for this purpose. The EN-Plug preserves the gastrostomy tract in case of gastrostomy tubes becoming dislodged.
Using a urinary catheter or a NG tube also costs more, so there are both licensing and cost implications for us.
More information about EN-Plugs is attached.
