Consultant renal physician Mansoor Ali reckons the NHS is his second family - he spends so much time at work! He loves it and looks forward to many years to come in this, the NHS's 70th birthday.  Here's his thoughts:

How long have you worked here?

I have worked at CHFT for the last four years and my association with CHFT has been absolutely amazing and equally challenging! However my association with the NHS goes back to 2004 when I first qualified and started my training career.  It’s been a rewarding  and satisfying journey so far;  and I’m looking forward to many many more years serving in it!!!

What makes the NHS special to you?

NHS is a special institution of our country.  It has an important place in our lives!  For me this is my livelihood, this is where I spent my last 14 years and this is where I intend to spend another 20-30yrs of my life. NHS is where I trained to become who I am to look after my patients, treat them and help them feel and become better! To me I spend more time in the NHS and with work colleagues than my own family, so NHS is my home and people I work with are my family.

What present would you buy for its 70th?

“Myself”- as a present for the NHS. Kidding!, I would like to thank NHS for being around for so many years and still going despite many obstacles in its path be it financial, political or national.

I would like to participate in the 1000miles for the NHS. Why not join the #NHS1000miles challenge, where you log your miles – walking, running, swimming, (anything counts!) – over the next year as our collective birthday gift to the NHS.

I would also like to donate to a charity affiliated to the NHS to help raise funds to support patients and their families!!
