Well done service performance stars Val Rigg, Mandy Taylor, Sarah Flaherty, Sophie Holroyd and Alison Aspeling.

They've walked their socks off around our hospitals for the "Walk All over Cancer" campaign throughout March. Sarah Flaherty topped the lot with 360,086 steps - an average of 11,600 a day during the month.

She said auditing had helped her notch up her steps and on one day topped an amazing 19,000. "I feel fitter and sometimes at the end of the day it's nice to walk it all off. There's a lot to take in during audit, so it's nice to clear the head fog with a walk!"

Mandy Taylor with  359,992  (an average of 11,613 per day) was second, followed by  Alison 343,931  (11,095  per day)  Val 309,263  (9,976 per day) and Sophie  249,230  (8,040 per day)

Val said on behalf of the Steppers: " We did it!!  We have stepped all over March and survived. Thank you so much to anyone who has already donated, the collection boxes are still at HRI and CRH in our offices if anyone else would be generous enough to donate to this fantastic cause.  Have to say we are all very proud of ourselves and the thought of raising money for Cancer Research certainly made us walk even more than we already do at work!"

The Walk All Over Cancer campaign encourgaed participants to notch- up 10,000  a steps a day - recommended as great exercise to stay healthy.

Alison Aspeling did it by ditching the car for short journeys and walking, taking the stairs at work and never taking the lifts coupled with a general wish to keep fit.
