Paediatrics was the main topic for the annual Visual Impairment Forum hosted by Janette Hainsworth and Tracy Craven earlier this month.
Guest guest speakers included Ms Gogi Paediatric Consultant Ophthalmologist, Stevie Johnston - Clinical lead RNIB (Child Orthoptist), Maggie Butterfield – from the Children’s Visual Impairment Team at Calderdale Council, Mrs Khan Consultant Ophthalmologist - ( children with diabetes,) Mr Khan Consultant Ophthalmologist – (Genetics) and Nigel Higginson- (refraction for children).
Janette spoke to the group about the improvements made from the suggestions from last year's meet, which included improving the signage to the eye clinic around CRH and to set up an information stand in clinic about a different eye condition each month to raise awareness and provide information to the patients and staff.
The Forum was attended by staff, members of the public, Trust governor Brian Moore, staff from the RNIB and Calderdale Council.
Janette and Tracy receive some excellent feedback.
Eye clinic sister, Heather Robinson, said: "Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to attend and special thanks to the guest speakers.
"Janette and Tracy work hard to arrange this forum and to raise awareness of visual impairment their dedication and passion is commendable. They are already planning next year’s forum."
