Our CRH librarian Helen Curtis has organised a knitting and crochet session for next Wednesday 21st March. It's a fact that taking part in craft activities can lower stress levels. And the best bit is the session is free, you'll get a cuppa and you can keep your creation and any spare wool.

Helen (pictured right) is a Wellbeing Champion, and alongside the rest of the group is looking to introduce extra activities, working alongside Calderdale Public Libraries (who are supporting the work) to help colleagues de-stress.

Helen said "Come and join us for a knitting and crochet session in the library at CRH.

"Everyone is welcome. Even if you've never never done it before - we can show you how. It's an open session between 4.30pm and 6.30pm next Wednesday 21st, so just call in stay as long as you like. It’s a free session. You get to keep the wool to finish your creation, and we'll even make you a cup of tea!"

And Helen and the Occupational Health team are in good company. The head coach of Finland’s snowboarders, Antti Koskinen, featured heavily in social media during the recent Winter Olympics. He uses knitting at major competitions to help manage his own stress as a coach, and will often get his team to do it too.

So - here's the information:

  • Wed 21 March
  • 4.30pm to 6.30pm
  • CRH Library
  • Novices and well as keen knitters/crochet buffs welcome
