Chief Nurse Brendan Brown and Medical Director David Birkenhead are extending a huge thanks to all colleagues who have been involved with the CQC inspection teams yesterday and on Tuesday.

Their planned inspection for today will not now be going ahead due to the snow and will be rescheduled.

Brendan, said: "We've had a team of 23 inspectors looking at various core services. The team have now left the Trust and have  told us that CHFT colleagues have been welcoming and hospitable as usual which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. "

David, added: "The team have seen first-hand how extremely busy we are in our hospitals and they've said it's clear we're committed to putting the patient first at the same time as supporting requests from the inspection team.  We know they will be back with us for more unannounced inspections before April - so this gives us a real opportunity to make sure our wards and departments are as good as they can be.

"So, from us both, at this busy and, once again, snowy time - a huge thank you to all involved over the past couple of days."

Our CHFT CQC roadshows are still going ahead  where we will be able to share more of their initial feedback from this week.

They are:

  • Today  -  8 March   5pm to 6pm CRH Lecture Theatre
  • Friday -  9 March   8.30am to 9.30am CRH Lecture Theatre
  • Friday  - 9 March   11am to midday HRI, Discussion Room 1 (additional session)
  • Friday  - 9 March   noon  to 1pm CRH Lecture Theatre

What happens next?

  • The CQC are very likely to call again  unannounced into any service between now and when they are due back  for a well-led inspection on April 3.
  •  We will continue to prepare for the April 3 inspection which will last three days
  • There is lots of information for colleagues on our CQC intranet page - including an "I need to know" page - facts, figures and information about CHFT.
