Clinical manager in community Marie Sullivan told us of a great story showing true community spirit in action in the midst of some dire weather.

Team leader Rachel Bradbury, who works in the out-of-hours service which covers the district nursing and palliative care team, was yesterday given a 4x4 fully insured vehicle at no cost to use by Stonelake Cars in Copley, where her son works.

Marie said "It meant that we were able to provide two teams and a co-ordinator for the shifts last night (Thursday).

"This is a brilliant example of a community business thinking and doing something about local health care."
