7b's superstars turned into Wedding R Us when a long-stay patient and her partner wanted to tie the knot.

One member of staff loaned a dress and others went shopping to The Range after work to ensure they could transform the dayroom and make it a little bit special for the event. (see attached)

Doctors and staff arranged for the registrars, decked out the dayroom as a wedding venue and came in at 6am to start setting up.

And all their hard work and compassion earned them our latest Star Award presented just this morning by CEO Owen Williams.

Nominator Darren Nicholson, said: "They have provided so much support and care for this patient and her partner and I really believe it needs to be recognised. I believe this is an excellent example of putting the patient first. The ward did not need to do anything but showed great care for the patient looking at her needs and wellbeing as a person."

The husband of the couple, who didn't want to be identified, later said: "The staff have gone above and beyond for my wife and I couldn't be more thankful."

Ward manager Lisa Wilkinson, said: "Thankyou so much to the team  and not just on this instance. They always go above and beyond and that is the whole department, not just the nurses. There is so much goodwill in the NHS.

"The lady was a long-stay patient. They wanted to get married so the team made it happen. This is typical of them."
