Our Trust took part in a Yorkshire-wide table-top exercise to test our responses should there be a major terror alert in our region.

The exercise centred on  two  specially created  fake incidents in Sheffield and Doncaster which  involved multiple casualties including children.

CHFT created a "command" centre in our appointments centre at HRI. Staff from many areas  were asked to look at how our EDs would respond - and ultimately how the rest of our teams across both hospitals as well as our community colleagues and  social services partners would be affected..

It was coordinated by Pubic Health England and all Trusts in the Yorks and Humber area were involved along with representatives from the  ambulance service and police.

There was a fake news channel  called WNN with updates as the incident unfolded.

Our Resilience and Security Management Specialist, Ian Kilroy, said: “ If there was  a major terror attack there is every chance many hospitals,  as well as the most local ones, would have to be involved. Colleagues at CHFT demonstrated a professional and coordinated response and it was good to test our capability to respond and  support should something like this ever happen in this region.”
