Sister Elaine Miller has retired after 12 years on Ward 12 and there was a huge turnout to say bye bye.

Before Ward 12 she worked in admin in X-ray and previously at Pinderfields.

She received lots of Pandora jewellery and flowers and there was a tremendous buffet in the staff room.

She said she would miss "everything" about her job. " I love everything about it. But it is about the people. Everyone I work with and all my patients. I will miss them all."

Her husband Steve retires this week and they plan to pack in plenty of holidays to make up for their time spent working.

Sister Sophie Denton, has been mentored by Elaine since she was 20 years old. She said: " She holds us all together professionally and personally. She always has a smile on her face - even on a bad day. We all come to her, she is always kind and you always talk to her about anything."
