Tea, Ms Jowett? Certainly Ms Sellars and how are you today?

This might look like a retro scene from the 50s but it's the state of the art support for patients with dementia and these revolutionary pods are now at our Trust.

They are an instant pop-up room providing reminiscences which are proven to stimulate a memory which is deteriorating.

So far at HRI site, wards 5 and 6 have them erected (both have the '50's/60's lounge) and at CRH site we have 5AD (50/60's Lounge) and 2AB (Vintage Tea room- photo attached) with them in situ.

The idea is to create an additional area to a day room, for patients to engage and reminisce. They have props with each environment to provide talking points and entertainment. The lounge areas have old fashioned TV's with 50's memorabilia , and the majority of the areas have vintage radios also.

The hairdressing pod takes a bit more assembling work, but once it is up it will be extremely impressive with a big Hollywood style mirror!!
