Colleagues of Maureen Gaunt gathered on Ward 8 to say farewell and good luck as she starts a whole new cafe career.
On Monday she's opening the Chrysanthemum Tea Room in New Street, Huddersfield, with her son James after 14 years at CHFT. She joined us from Sainsburys where she worked part time along with a job in home care. When she couldn't get a permanent home care job she joined the Trust as she knew she wanted a role in healthcare.
Up til 18 months ago she worked on Ward 8 and is now equipment coordinator with the Tissue Viability team.
She said: "I have made a really good friends here. Many have retired but we all stay in touch and meet up as we have a special bond."
Maureen plans to sell brews made with loose tea in the cafe, hence the link to Japan and hence the link to chrysanthemums - a plant her father-in-law loves growing.
She said: "We thought about combining our names like MoJo but it didn't have the same appeal. I look forward to welcoming all my friends in for a brew and a chat."
