Over 120 people from the Muslim community in West Halifax gathered recently in the Madni Mosque recently to learn about what CHFT and Overgate Hospice offers in terms of end of life care

Information was given by CHFT's Drs Mary Kiely and Vijay Bangar and members of the Specialist Palliative Care, Mortuary and Chaplaincy Teams, and the event was an opportunity for members of the community to ask questions and express their concerns.

Feedback comments included, “thank you for the event. It was very well presented and especially translated well.” “Thank you for bringing the doctors and nurses to the mosque. I learned so much”. Our photograph shows women from the community in the morning session and attached is a photo of a display boards used at the event which was used to dispel myths about end of life and hospice care.

The event is part of a response to increase uptake of care amongst the South Asian community and further events are to be planned.
