A film starring some of our youngest patients and actors was premiered at our Nursing Conference.
It's for our website promoting the care for our younger patients, and seen through their eyes. The dialogue was based on real feedback and designed to allay fears in the simplest of language. It stars little kids in full size uniforms of doctors and nurses.
They are filmed taking temperatures and offering food and answering the telephones and it has a big aaaah-factor.
It's very cute and you can watch it here
The film was part of "Compliance and Beyond - Learning from Experience" delivered by Anne-Marie Henshaw and her colleagues demonstrating how maternity and paediatrics services are changing.
Matron Amanda McKie was also one of the presenters at the conference and turned up with a Robocop-style leg brace after a tumble on the cobbles in Holmfirth. She was seen in A&E and says: " My ankle went one way and my body went the other - it was as simple as that. It feels like it's broken but it's not, it's damaged and the brace helps me put weight on it."
She braved the discomfort to deliver a presentation about our film Denis' story about improving care for people with learning disabilities.
Other presenters include Alison Wright talking about Optimising Compassionate Care within the Operating Department and Debs Taylor, a service user, spoke about support for mental health patients in a story called: From Pills to Paintbrushes (both pictured)
Massive thanks to them all.
