There are currently 17 syringe drivers unaccounted for across our Trust and replacing them would cost more than £25k. So it's really important they are booked out and returned correctly and quickly. Not only will it mean patient treatment isn't delayed because of a lack of equipment, we'll be making sure we're being smart with our resources. Please read and share this briefing, which includes the process for collecting a syringe driver.

Process (please see Obtaining a Syringe Driver for the codes etc for the doors)

1.      Collect syringe driver from Equipment stores:

a.      CRH – 1st Floor, door code (see above)

b.      HRI – Basement, door code (see above)

2.      Sign the syringe driver out on the syringe driver form, completing all boxes. Patient Hospital Number required.

3.      Telephone CRH ext: 2524 and leave a message stating the syringe driver code and the ward it is going to.

4.      If the patient is being discharged with a syringe driver, a ‘Syringe Driver Tracking Form’ must be completed and sent to Andrea Vickerman. Ensure that the second part of the form is sent with the driver for completion by community staff.
