The infection control nursed have been visiting the wards and departments at CRH this week, and are at the community bases on Thursday, and HRI next week. There are displays in HRI main entrance and CRH outside the restaurant.
The focus of the event is healthy hands: looking at how dry hands are (using a sensor), causes of dry hands and how to look after your hands to protect patients from harm.
Gillian Manojlovic and Susan Higo from the Infection Prevention and Control Team wrote in to say
"The theme of this year’s roadshow is ‘healthy hands’ because we know sore hands are a barrier to effective hand hygiene. Staff have the opportunity to check the hydration of their hands, discuss hand care and where to seek support if they have problems with their hands.
"In the first few days of the roadshow we have visited all the wards on the CRH site and many other departments. It was a great opportunity to ‘go see’ our colleagues providing clean safe care and doing the ‘must do’ of following ‘bare below the elbow’. We would encourage staff to visit the Infection Prevention and Control pages of the intranet over the next few weeks to see the results of fingertip plates taken of staff during the roadshow."
