From 29 August 2017, colleagues will see improvements to EPR Capacity Management (Cap Man) access, resulting in easier sign-on.

When we went live with EPR in May, we introduced a temporary arrangement for some colleagues (mainly ward clerks and bed managers) to access EPR Cap Man - which meant that they had more than one sign-on for the system.  A system upgrade will take place during the evening of Tuesday 29 August, and will end the need for separate sign-ons, meaning these colleagues will be able to access all elements of EPR via a single sign-on with their NHS Smart Card.

After this all explicit logons (username and password or tap and go) to cap man for ward clerks and bed managers will be discontinued. Other groups of staff who use cap man (i.e. nursing staff and midwives) will continue to use these explicit log ins.

To support the upgrade, porters and cleaners will experience one hour of downtime in the evening of the 29th of August. We're not able to give you a time at the moment but will let these colleagues know nearer the time.

In addition, the Gender Breach functionality of EPR CapMan will be enabled.  This means colleagues will be able to record when they have placed a patient in mixed sex accommodation for a clinical or operational reason.
