CHFT colleagues and our partners turned Huddersfield main entrance into a crime, fire prevention and security Monopoly board promoting a proactive security and safety culture amongst colleagues, visitors and patients.
First stop was the West Yorkshire Fire stand which was supported by our own Keith Rawnsley. Lots of information and freebies were shared to support the fire service achieve their ambition to “Make West Yorkshire Safer” by following simple fire safety advice.
Our next call was to the Home Office and Counter Terrorism - who provide counter terrorism security advice - shared information on how they manage immigration in the UK.
Then we moved on to our own Local Counter Fraud Specialist, Adele Jowett, who provided an insight into raising the alarm if fraud is suspected within the NHS. Adele reminded us all that, however small or insignificant your concerns may seem, to make direct contact with her on 07771 390 544.
Kirklees Victim Support then reminded us that, if we’ve been a victim of crime, they are able to provide free and confidential support.
The British Parking Association (BPA) were also on hand to provide advice on what makes safe and compliant carpark. We are focused on improving car-parking and will consider becoming a member of the BPA as with over 650 corporate members there will no doubt be learning for CHFT.
Our final stop saw Police Community Support Officer Bill Legge who shared lots of freebies and tips how to prevent ourselves from becoming a victim of crime. Card defenders, to prevent the scanning of contactless card details, were issued out by the dozen.
The Vehicle Crime Prevention Team hosted a stand at the main entrance of CRH on Monday and a similar "Monopoly-style" event will be staged in November at Calderdale Hospital in November.
Estates General Manager Alison Wilson said: "There was a real mix of organisations represented and lots of interest from people passing through, with lots of questions asked and information shared.
"We're working with all our partners jointly to reduce and prevent fraud and crime, promote fire safety and generally promote a proactive security culture both at work and home."
