Tomorrow morning at 10.30 am the Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee members will be meeting with health chiefs to decide the next steps in the local healthcare reconfiguration process.
The proposals, called Right Care, Right Time, Right Place, proposed by our CCG colleagues, were the focus of a three-month long consultation process last summer. At the heart of the proposals are two hospital specialist centres one for planned care at HRI and an emergency centre at CRH, urgent care centres at both hospitals and reshaped community services.
At the end of tomorrow's hearing, our local councillors can decide whether to approve the proposals and allow them to progress locally or send them up to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and a Review Panel for further consideration. They may also postpone making a decision until they have fully deliberated all the issues.
Our CEO Owen Williams and Director of Transformation Anna Basford will be attending as representatives of CHFT.
A decision is expected around 11.30 am and we will inform colleagues as soon as we can.
