Our CHFT Domestic Abuse (DA) Lead Gwen Clyde-Evans and security officer Gary Allchin recently had to pose for mugshots - but not because they had done anything wrong. In fact it was quite the opposite! They've both received commendations from the police.
At the Calderdale District Policing Awards evening they were presented with District Chief’s Superintendent Commendation Awards.
Gwen, pictured second left, received her award for her contribution to setting up DA hub at Halifax police station where she's now based with Donna Riley, domestic abuse specialist advisor.
The words on her certificate were: “For your exceptional contribution and innovation in the implementation and delivery of a multi-agency Domestic Abuse Hub within the Calderdale district, supporting vulnerable people and keeping communities safe and feeling safer”.
She told CHFT Weekly: "I'm pleased that all the hard work we've put in has been recognised. Other agencies are now seeing and appreciating the benefits and commitment of health services in dealing with the impact of domestic abuse. I have to say too that I was really proud to be nominated".
The DA Hub went live in January 2016 and the Domestic Abuse Health Service has played a huge role in the development and daily running. Each day Gwen and Donna have a daily discussion around high risk cases that have been presented in the past 24 hours. Gwen and Donna represent all the health agencies in their role, and it's a real multi-agency success.
Gary (see below for photo), who works at CRH as a security office received his for providing outstanding support to investigators and compassion towards others at the scene of a fatal industrial accident.
