The Perfect Week is an opportunity to focus on the breadth of medicines management from a multi-professional perspective, giving us an opportunity to review performance and identify areas that work well, as well as look at where improvements can be made. Ward 20 will be our base between Monday 17 and Monday 24 July.
Chief Nurse Brendan Brown said:"I hope colleagues will get behind this so we can all make sure we do everything possible to make patient safety is as good as it can be at CHFT."
We'll be looking in particular at:
- Medicines rounds
- Ward and patient care routines
- Patient admission and discharges
- Prescribing, ordering and dispensing of medicines
- Medicines management – including storage of medications, fridge monitoring and controlled drug storage
- Patient's knowledge of medicines and their personal role in medicines management
- How the multi-professional team work collectively in the management of medicines
We'll then look to do a similar week at CRH in September.
These two Perfect Weeks have been developed in specific response to our CQC action plan around medicines management, but have been planned as a supportive measure to teams in response to feedback we’ve received from them on the challenges they are facing on a daily basis.
