Chief Nurse, Brendan Brown, our Board Director who is the Lead for children, has invited CHKS assurance and accreditation programme to support CHFT to be the first trust in the UK to have their services for children accredited.

Julie Mellor and Gill Harries will be the project leads.

Brendan, said: "I’m delighted CHKS are piloting this accreditation scheme with our Paediatric department, which reflects the team's ambition to provide the best standards of care to children and their families. This will involve a significant amount of work for them, but I’m sure will be worthwhile as it will support their commitment and pride in their services, and enable them to share best practice across the country."

The programme of accreditation will take up to 12 months and accreditation will be achieved by using a standard framework of self-assessment and external peer review focusing on

  1. Quality improvement
  2. Leadership and motivation in the delivery of high quality care.
  3. Staff engagement and involvement
  4. Model the cultures and behaviours that support improvement

We are currently pulling together the baseline assessment and then will and gather evidence to prove what we do what we say we do.

In April 2018  inspectors/assessors will visit the children’s ward NICU and other directorate children’s services
