Physio Pete Gilligan wore his uniform to mark Armed Force Reservist Day.
Pete, who joined us two years ago, is with the 207 Field Hospital based in Manchester part of 2 Medical Brigade.
As a reservist he must spend 27 days a year in training but has yet to be deployed. He learns soldiering skills, weapons and patrolling and serves as a combat medical technician - like a paramedic.
He wore his uniform - with sleeved rolled up - to highlight the humanitarian side of the Army in areas such as Sierra Leone and Kenya and said his appearance had attracted a lot of interest.
He said: " The Army isn't just about running around shooting. There is a strong humanitarian and support role too. I wore my uniform to make people aware that people, like me in the NHS, give up their time to support people in other areas of the world."
He said he didn't want to be fulltime solder as he had a child and did not want to be separated from her so being a reservist alongside his job as a physio gave him the best of both worlds.
He added: "I love my job. It is rotational and each role brings new challenges. There are many similar skills needed such as communications and working as a team and relating to people."
