Our HRI Ward 5 colleagues raised £600 after completing the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
Gail Flynn, Amy Lubgan , Rebecca Welch and Penny Halliwell set out to raise money for new televisions on wheels.
Senior Nurse Rebecca Welch said: “We walked 26 miles in over 13 hours. We wanted to raise money for more resources on the ward including televisions on wheels and radios. Our patients can be in hospital for a very long time and many have dementia.
“The televisions are on trolleys allowing us to take them to patients in their bed space. Stimulation for our patients can make their stay more comfortable, encourage engagement with their surroundings and can reduce a person’s length of stay in hospital.”
Rebecca, added: “It was hard, both mentally and physically but we supported each other completely the whole way and now have a fantastic sense of personal achievement as well as the satisfaction of knowing that we raised money to provide for the people that require our care.
"We don't plan on completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks again; however, we are considering tackling the National Three Peaks sometime next year which involves scaling Mount Snowdon, Scafell and Ben Nevis.”
