Andrew’s parent are Spanish and Mauritian and they met in the early 60s in the UK as they both came to train as mental health nurses and work in the NHS.

Tell us about your career background?
A nurse for 32 years, trained in Nottingham, specialised in Cardiology, worked in a number of roles between Yorkshire and the Midlands, but prefer Yorkshire!
What are the best bits about your job?
Our patients. I find generally are the most rewarding and appreciative element of the role, but unfortunately patient contact for me is more limited now in this role.
What is the highlight of your career so far?
Presenting at the European Society of Cardiology in Stockholm a few years ago

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A baker
Who is your hero/heroine and why?
Nelson Mandela, need I say more!
When you are not at work how do you relax?
Walking , golf and watching football. I follow Liverpool, Hull City and Deportivo La Coruna. Liverpool was a team I picked when I was young, Hull City because I went to school in Hull and all my mates now follow and Deportivo as La Coruna is the city from where my family in Spain originate
What is your favourite place?
La Coruna, Spain. It's family home
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I like 70s and 80s music and I always liked Boney M as a child. Now I’m a big fan!
