Maintenance Technician Gerry Foster retired from Engie (Estates) at CRH last month after 36 years with the NHS.
Gerry started work with the Calderdale Area Health Authority in July 1980 as a driver / labourer. Amongst his roles with the Trust Gerry was a shift boiler man which was located in Block S which now houses the Estates Workshop. Construction of the Calderdale Royal Hospital commenced in 1998 with Completion in April 2001.
During this period Gerry transferred from the Trust to Bovis Facilities Management. After transferring Gerry undertook Apprentice training at Leeds College to be a plumber. He has developed into a Maintenance Technician using his vast knowledge and skills to mentor and develop apprentice plumbers from within the team.
Facilities Manager at Engie Wayne Dean said "During his 36 years working at Calderdale, Gerry has been a very popular and well respected member of the team and we all wish him and his wife Janet the best of retirements".
Gerry and Janet will be travelling to Rome this month and later in the year to Australia to visit his brother. He also intends to complete lots of DIY jobs at home and may even build another shed to add to his growing collection as well as putting his skills to use assisting friends and colleagues in their building tasks!
