The Chaplaincy and Occupational Health Teams have been working together to put some things in place to help keep colleagues as fit and well as possible well during the first few weeks of go-live. These are in addition to an already growing programme of wellbeing initiatives.

All the resources below are on the Occupational Health pages of the intranet under current campaigns/EPR Wellbeing

Staying fit and healthy mentally

Our chaplaincy team have created some really simple resources for colleagues to use if they need some time out.

And don’t forget our normal Mindfulness programme is still there to support colleagues, as it has been before the EPR project.

Staying physically fit

As well as staying well mentally, it’s important to keep physically fit.

Stretching regularly can help avoid repetitive strain injuries

The Occupational Health team have been working with the Physiotherapy department and have pulled together some easy exercises and a film to help prevent repetitive strain.

Theraputic massages

Massage is one of the oldest and simplest forms of medical care and is used to ease pain and anxiety and to promote good health.

Did you know that for some time we’ve been working with Sheila Donkersley to offer therapeutic massage at affordable cost to colleagues?

Over the next few weeks there will be some pop-up massage visits to workplaces supported by the staff lottery fund.  Look out for the wellbeing roadshows in May.

We’ve also created a short video with Sheila for colleagues to see how easy it is to massage away the stress in your hands if you are using your computer more than normal over the coming weeks.

...and introducing our new CHFT Health and Wellbeing booklet

A new wellbeing booklet for colleagues has been created following a series of staff engagement sessions last year. The content has been contributed by a real collaboration of CHFT colleagues all interested in the health and wellbeing of not only themselves, but their colleagues too, which started last year. If you are interested in becoming a Wellbeing Champion, please contact the Occupational health department on occupational.healthCHT@cht.nhs.uk

You can see an electronic version of the booklet on the same page as above (or below). The booklets have just arrived and are being gradually distributed across the organisation. We’ll be sharing more information about colleague wellbeing over the coming months.
