After 18 years admin legend Angela Davies has roared off into retirement - in the sidecar of her MZ motorbike.
Her famous weird lunch combinations at Glen Acre House including of cottage cheese and curry (!) beetroot on top of beans of toast will be no more.
It was an emotional run-up to the retirement day when colleagues presented her with an outdoor planter, Estee Lauder perfume, Prosecco and chox. "Saying goodbye to colleagues who weren't in on my last day made me cry," said Angela. " But there no tears on the day itself."
She joined the Trust in 1999 working in Therapy Services giving admin support to the physio, Speech and Language Therapies and occupational therapy, first at the Princess Royal CHC and then at HRI.
She started in Clinical Audit in April 2002 and spent 13 years in the sub-basement offices, but moved to Glen Acre House two years ago when Clinical Audit merged with Risk Management.
She said: " I got a window with a real view at last! I have really enjoyed my career here especially at Glen Acre House when I finally had an office with decent windows after years in clinical audit!"
During her time here she helped with preparations fo the Millenium where the Trust had to have massive emergency planning in place in case the alleged potential "bug" struck. She has also been involved with CHI and CQC planning.
She added: " I have really enjoyed the patient contact when we did Real Time Patient Monitoring and looking after the volunteers who helped with this project. And have really enjoyed working with everyone. I will miss my colleagues."
Looking ahead she plans to do more walking, trips out in the MZ motorcycle and side car which fits their dog too and spending time at the family's holiday place in Spain!!
She said: " Bring it on!!!
Quality Improvement Manager, Alison Lodge said: " Angela has worked as the clinical audit department secretary for 15 years. She has been a fantastic colleague and huge support to me personally and to the rest of the team. Angela is a real people person, always friendly and encouraging and in particular has built up a good relationship with a small group of volunteers who work with us - coordinating their input in our patient experience programme.
"On behalf of us all – I would like to thank her for all her hard work and wish her all the best for the future."
